Ividum Swargam Anu Review – Too Slow and Dragging

Saw Ividum Swargam anu from Jose Theater, Pala. First Day Show.

[Update : When i saw this movie, it was near 3 hours and was damn slow. And i gave a rating of 2.5/5 . Now i came to know from my friend that they have drastically reduced the length and removed all boring scenes.  Go and watch the movie. Should be in a good form now. :) ]

Roshan Andrews (Udayananu Thaaram, Notebook) is one of my favourites and so is James Albert (Classmates and Cycle). So i went with huge expectations But i was Disappointed. May be i expected more.

The movie is not that entertaining. The first half and the first half of second half is slow. The rest is good.

Direction is too good. But the story is weak. And they dragged it to around 3 hours. They should have reduced the length of the movie.

Cinematography is good.

Mohanlal is back to his common man roles. And he did that perfectly. And this is a good sign for Malayalam cinema.

Highligths of the movie: Jagathy scenes, Sreenivasan, Lalu Alex, The farm.

The movie is produced by Aashirvad Cinemas and distributed by Mohanlal’s Maxlab Cinemas.

Ividum Swargam Anu is an average movie and may turn out to be an average hit.

And i hope they will reduce the length of the movie soon.

    Am not acting too smart.

    I wrote what i thought about the movie.

    My expectations was too high because of Roshan and James Albert.

    But Ividam swargam aanu is nowhere near to Udanayanu Thaaram and Notebook.

    I think this is the problem with most of the Malayalam viewers .. they want the story to be told to them very fast with some double meaning jokes by the side .

    I thought the movie was a refreshing one .. I am sure you will find the old movies like Vellanakalude Naadu very boring . You should have got bored while watching Paleri manickyam

    Please do not compare Vellanakaludenaadu and Palerimanikyam with Ividam Swargamaanu. IS is nowhere near to those movies.

    The problem with Ividum Swargamanu is that, the story is told like a documentary till the second half. They could have reduced the length of the movie and make it more crisp. IS has a one line story and they stretched it to 3 hours.

    Anyway this is the second best movie of Lalettan in 2009, Bramaram being the first.

    Yeah.. Ividam Swargamanu is poor. A common mans’ story, a one liner.. told in a traditional, although slower pace. Very poor.

    And yes, Chattambinaadu is exceptional. A story that may happen to half in a zillion, unrealistic characters, stylish glasses and dresses(that no one wears in real life) and songs (As if common men always sing and dance whenever something happens :P ). Truly spectacular !!!

    Oh, and you are not biased. I can see that :D

    I didnt say that the movie is poor. I just said that the movie is slow.

    IS may turn out to be a hit if they trim the movie by around 30 minutes.

    If i was wrong, why did they reduce the length of the movie. The fact that the movie is trimmed says that it was damn slow.
