Urumi Review
Caution: This is a negative review. If you are planning to watch it, DO NOT read this.
There are reasons why i couldn’t enjoy Urumi. Too many distractions. Was stuck in traffic for around 1 hour. Had to hurry for the dinner with no money in purse. Borrowed 200Rs from my friend. Missed the first few minutes. Had to talk to a guy who was filming the climax scenes in his mobile phone. And the list goes on. May be thats why i didnt like the film much.
Now some thoughts about Urumi
Shah Rukh ഖാന്റെ അശോക മലയാളത്തിലേക്ക് dub ചെയ്തത് പോലെ തോന്നി.
The movie doesnt seem to be happening in Kerala. The costumes, the choreo, the people etc etc give us a feeling that it is some other place in India. May be the original idea of the producer and the director was to make this movie appeal to a wider audience. But i think sticking to the real Kerala should have worked better than this. And dont call Urumi a Global Malayalam Film. We have far better malayalam movies.
On the technical side, Urumi is really good.
Songs were excellent. Deepak Dev again proves why he is one of the best music directors in recent times.
Picturisation was superb. Kudos to Santhosh Sivan for his brilliant work.
Background score was good.
If you ever plan to watch this movie, watch it from a good theater with good sound system.
Overall Urumi is not too bad and not great. Its much better than the recent two films – Christian Brothers and August 15.
My Rating: I do not want to rate this movie now. May be i will rate this after watching again with a peaceful mind. Anyway it should be 3 or slightly above 3.
വാല്ക്കഷ്ണം: Never compare Urumi with Vadakkan Veeragadha and Pazhassiraja. “പഴശിരാജയില് മമ്മൂട്ടി ഉറുമി വീശുന്ന ഒരു സീന് ഉണ്ട്. ആ ഒരൊറ്റ സീനിനു ഈ സിനിമയേക്കാള് ഭംഗി ഉണ്ട്. ”
